Mr. Compton teaches at Graceland University as an Assistant Professor of Music. He teaches courses in music education as well as directs the bands. Previously Mr. Compton has held music director positions at Barton County Community College in Great Bend, Kansas and American River College in Sacramento, California as well as positions in secondary education in the Northern California area.
Mr. Compton is currently completing a Doctor of Musical Arts in saxophone performance at the Shenandoah Conservatory in Winchester, Virginia under the direction of Joseph Eckert. He holds both a Master of Arts degree and a Bachelor of Music degree from California State University in Sacramento. He has been an active clinician in the western Kansas area since 1995.
