  • Taught Introduction to Speech Communication and Modern Rhetoric over the ICN for the ACES program since the spring of 1998
  • Taught Introduction to Speech Communication and Modern Rhetoric (one class each semester)
  • Lamoni High School, Lamoni, IA 1970 to 1999 High School Language Arts Teacher
  • Taught classes covering the tenth through twelfth grades, including but not limited to the following: English II, Advanced Composition, American Literature, British Literature, World Literature, Speech, Desktop Publishing, Multi-media, and Publications. Taught American history for 1 year. Sponsored classes, NHS, academic team; coached speech team; directed various school plays; and served on numerous committees for school improvement.
  ACIEVEMENTS
  • Had students who received numerous I ratings at district and state speech contests sponsored by the Iowa High School Speech Association
  • Had numerous speech students who earned a performance slot at the All-State Speech Festival (the highest honor a high school speech student can achieve in the state of Iowa)
  • Founded the Lamoni High School Chapter of the National Honor Society
  • Nominated for Iowa Teacher of the Year
  • Have had a number of students enter the fields of speech and English because of an interest in those fields first discovered in my association with them
  • Served as computer coordinator for the district from 1996 - 1999 and was instrumental in organizing the districtÕs technology assets as well as drafting a grant proposal which earned the district money to begin rewiring and switching over from an Appletalk network to Ethernet
  • Show and Tell Exhibitor at the Iowa School Board Convention in 1988 and 1997
  • Presenter at Conference for Language Arts and Administration at Drake University in 1985 Green Vally AEA 14 1997 to 1999
