Position Approval - New and Replacement (HR5)
SUBJECT: Approval to Fill New and Replacement Positions
PURPOSE:
Establish the policy and procedure for approving positions and hiring employees for new and replacement positions
POLICY:
All new positions and replacement positions must have the approval of the Executive Council prior to advertising.
PROCEDURE:
Leader completes either a New Position Information Request Form or a Replacement Position Information Request Form on the K Drive under Forms/HR. Human Resources will review the information and set up a meeting to discuss the information with the leader. Human Resources will forward the completed request to Executive Council for approval.
Once approval is obtained, Human Resources will advertise the position based on information received during the position evaluation process. Human Resources will assist Leaders in developing a job description. The Leader is expected to work with Human Resources to establish the process and required documentation for the hiring process.
The leader will conduct the interview process and prior to making the candidate an offer will call the appropriate Vice President/President for approval. Only new hires that will report to a Vice President will require approval of the President. All other new hires can be approved by the appropriate Vice President. Formal follow up will occur with the Recommendation to Hire Form on the K Drive in which the appropriate Vice President will provide documented approval to hire.
