SUBJECT:
Reduction in Workforce

PURPOSE:
To establish the procedure for reduction in force. Recommended change: To provide guidelines for fair and effective decision-making in selection of employees when reductions in workforce are necessary.

POLICY:

1. When a reduction in force is required, consideration will be given to the length of service and work performance for employees within the same classification. Notice of this reduction will be given in accordance with federal law. Outplacement services will be made available to those employees affected.
2. These employees will be given first consideration for future job openings.
