Social Science

History, International Studies and Social Science are majors in Graceland University's Division of Social Science. These majors explore the development of social structures and relationships. Students develop critical thinking and problem solving skills and an understanding of the importance of critical inquiry. Courses with a breadth and depth of range - including an international dimension - prepare graduates for the challenges of a complex, interdependent world.

The Social Science major introduces students to the concepts and methods appropriate for investigation in the social sciences. Course work is required in four of the following areas: economics, geography, history, political science, psychology, social welfare and sociology. A minimum of 21 semester hours is needed in one field, 15 semester hours in each of two additional fields, and 6 semester hours in a fourth field. Social Research is also required.
