Music and Music Education are majors in Graceland University's Division of Fine Arts. Music majors develop high professional standards of performance and repertoire. Students learn to analyze music from a theoretical and historical perspective, to perform skillfully, and to become knowledgeable of and proficient in performance of music for choral, wind, and orchestra ensembles.
Music Performance Groups
Concert Band: Performs as a symphonic band throughout the academic year and also as a non-marching pep band during the football season; tours regionally every other year.
Jazz Ensemble: Plays a variety of jazz styles for concerts and special occasions.
Orchestra: Repertoire ranges from baroque to contemporary. Each year the choirs join the orchestra in the performance of a major work. Past years have included Mozart's Requiem and the Carmina Burana.
