Two courses from this area may count toward graduation. 

DEVL0900 Developmental Mathematics: Beginning Algebra 3 s.h.
Designed for students with little or no background in algebra. A brief review of basic math skills and pre-algebra will be given. The beginning algebra component includes; exponents and rational expressions, algebra fundamentals, graphing linear equations, polynomials and quadratic equations, and solving linear equations. Work will be done online in the Aleks system.

DEVL1200 Developmental Mathematics: Intermediate Algebra 3 s.h.
Designed for students who have completed DEVL0900 or with instructor's permission. A brief review of beginning algebra will be given. Intermediate algebra component includes; exponentials and logs, exponents and rational expressions, algebra fundamentals, graphing linear equations, polynomial and quadratic equations, radicals, sets, relations and functions, and solving linear equations. Work will be done online on the Aleks system.

DEVL1220 Academic Success 3 s.h.
Orientation to several major study skills and to effective reading methods. Recommended for all persons who want to improve their study skills. Students required to enroll in this course must achieve a minimum grade of "C".

DEVL1250 Basics of English 3 s.h.
Deals with difficulties common to underprepared writers. Emphasizes control of writing mechanics and organization. This course is a prerequisite to ENGL1410 Modern Rhetoric for students with Enhanced ACT English scores below 15 (or the SAT equivalent). Students must achieve at least a "C" before being permitted to take ENGL1410.
