Director of Choral Activities

The Department of Music at Graceland University is seeking a Director of Choral Activities for a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor of Music appointment on the Lamoni, Iowa, campus beginning August 2014. The successful candidate will direct Graceland’s two choral ensembles, teach Applied Voice, display a strong commitment to recruiting, developing and retaining outstanding vocal music students, and teach additional courses in the music curriculum according to the candidate’s qualifications and departmental needs. Required qualifications include a master’s degree in music (doctorate preferred), evidence of successful teaching and recruiting at the collegiate level, significant professional conducting and/or performance experience, and a successful history of teaching in a public school setting.

The Department of Music is a rapidly growing program housed in the extraordinary Shaw Center, one of the Midwest’s most impressive performing arts facilities, including the 150-seat Carol Hall recital facility, 600-seat Shaw Family Auditorium, and state of the art music classrooms and rehearsal spaces.

Studio Art

Graceland University is seeking a Visiting Assistant Professor in Studio Art on the Lamoni, Iowa, campus for the fall semester beginning mid-August 2014. The teaching load includes Design Principles, Drawing, Printmaking and Ethics, and Politics and Controversies in Art. Must also post and meet five office hours per week, actively participate in new faculty orientation and contribute to department and division service.

The successful candidate will have demonstrated teaching excellence and an active exhibition record. An MFA and a commitment to undergraduate liberal arts teaching and service are required.
