The Shaw Center for the Performing Arts at Graceland University Lamoni, Iowa, seeks a full-time Technical Coordinator beginning August 1. This is a salaried, 12-month renewable position within the Division of Fine Arts.
Graceland University is a small, private, liberal arts institution located in the rolling hills of southern Iowa that provides rich cultural offerings in art, music and theatre. The Shaw Center for the Performing Arts maintains an active schedule of performances, conferences and other cultural events. The Technical Coordinator assists in creating conditions for the success of these events and maintains the facility so that the academic integrity of the institution is preserved.
A Bachelors degree in Technical Theatre is required. Responsibilities include: maintenance and operation of facility and all equipment; effective management of time, staff, equipment and resources; lighting and sound support for departmental, touring and community events; event setup and take down; supervision of student worker staff; liaison with Facility Services and Conferences and Events staff; and collaboration with the scheduling team.
The ideal candidate will be self-directed and proactive, with excellent oral and written communication skills. The ability to work with a diverse clientele in an educational setting is essential. Must be able to manage work-load within a flexible schedule that involves evening and weekend performances. Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
