Krystal Page Signing (7-12-07)

Dual Sport Standout Signs GU Letter of Intent

July 12, 2007

Lamoni, IA-
Both the women’s volleyball and track and field teams at Graceland University will be adding a potential standout with the signing of Krystal Page to a national letter of intent.

A dangerous left-side hitter on the volleyball court and a participant in a variety of field events while competing in track, Page brings her athletic talents to the Yellowjackets from Osceola, Iowa and Clarke Community High School.

Hitting the volleyball court for coach Stew McDole, Page will use her 5’10” frame to help add some power and athleticism to the already-loaded GU front-line. Playing under OHS head coach Jeremy Mikesell, Page earned All South Central Conference Second Team honors after her senior season while also earning her squad’s team award for the Indians.

Coach McDole has seen plenty of top-knotch athletes come through his system while coaching at Graceland for the past 25 years and believes Page will fit right in.

"The two sport athlete is an increasing rarity in college athletics," said McDole. "It is occasionally true that an athlete has the ability, but usually the demands are too much. Krystal has the athletic tools and she intends to succeed at it. The common denominator is strength. Krystal is a physical volleyball player who has had success in both middle and outside hitter roles. That same strength is key to her future as a thrower for Graceland track. She is an aggressive player that other teams will have to confront. Her best play is certainly in front of her. We are looking forward to that future."

Competing for coaches Randy Bolton and Brent Parrott, Page earned a spot in the Iowa State track meet during competition this past spring. Page also competed on the club level for Fusion Volleyball.

A solid student in the classroom as well as in athletic competition, Page was a member of the National Honor Society as well as on the Honor Roll. Page plans to major in Visual Communications when beginning her education at Graceland next fall.

Krystal is the daughter of John and Karen Page.
