The Graceland University softball team got out their spatulas and fired up the grill for a weekend of volunteer work that helped raise money and awareness for the Lamoni Volunteer Fire Department and EMS.
Over the three days of September 24th to 26th the Jackets each worked three or four hour shifts totaling 30 working hours at the first annual Lamoni Fire and EMS slow-pitch tournament’s concession stand. The tournament was held at the home of Graceland softball, North Park in Lamoni. The ladies were there Friday night and all day Saturday and Sunday.
Decatur County Deputy Sheriff Ben Boswell, tournament director, was very happy to have the Graceland team pitch in and help the community. “The ladies did a great job and it helped me run a successful tournament,” said Boswell.
Monday afternoon after regular practice, the whole team pitched in again by picking up trash in and around the softball field at North Park.
