Jackets Jump Into Practice

Jackets Jump Into Season

October 11, 2007

Lamoni, IA-
Graceland men’s basketball practices got off to an exciting start this year with some new faces on the court and on the sideline. Coach Ted Quinn introduced new coaches Jeffery Hamilton, Brad Matney, and Wendell Smith to the program for the 07-08 year. He also introduced new players Mike Malat, Stevin Trisic, Yohanna Alphonse, Josh Bennett, Cooper Danforth, Garrett Grundman, Courtney Coleman, and Eric Scrivner to the fold of already talented ball players that return for the Graceland men’s team this year.

Practice tempo and player intensity has been high so far in drills and scrimmages. Everybody in the gym knows that game minutes are up for grabs at this point. No one is guaranteed a starting spot in early October, so the rookies have been pushing the veterans to play at their very best. Conditioning has also been an important part of these early season workouts. The coaching staff and players know the first game is less than a month away, so taxing your body to its very limit is important right now. This season looks to be a very exciting version of Yellowjacket basketball so check back for more updates as opening night tip-off approaches.
