Tucker Young Inks Name to Yellowjacket Signings List

Lamoni, IA-
Attracting talented local athletes to the Graceland University campus can go along way to ensuring success on and off the field and head baseball coach Brady McKillip feels he has found yet another one in Interstate-35 High School standout Tucker Young.

A multi-position star out of nearby St. Charles, Iowa, Young will begin classes at Graceland this fall and suit up for the Yellowjackets baseball team in the spring. A right-handed pitcher and shortstop while playing at the prep level, Young provides the Jackets with a solid set of baseball skills as well as the versatility to play positions all across the diamond.

“Tucker is a talented pitcher that throws in the mid to upper 80’s,” said McKillip. “He could provide an immediate impact for us on the mound, but is a good enough athlete that he could play shortstop or the outfield if needed. We are excited to keep the local talent close to home so their families can watch them succeed,” continued the Jacket’s skipper.

Tallying a win-loss record of 6-1 during his senior campaign with a 1.87 ERA, Young is no stranger to dominating the opposition. In 45 innings atop the hill, Young recorded 79 strikeouts while issuing only 17 walks and limiting opposing hitters to a miniscule .172 batting average.

With the Iowa summer baseball season now complete, Young was named a 1st Team All-Conference selection as well as a 1st Team All-District. The Iowa All-State teams have not been announced as of yet.
