Three Yellowjackets Earn Scholar-Athlete Status on the Diamond
May 4, 2007
Lamoni, IA- While the Graceland University baseball and softball teams are now done competing on the field for 2007, the postseason accolades continue to roll in. Adrian Kerr and Victor Tso of the GU baseball team and Bryn DeGraw of the Yellowjacket’s softball squad were named to the NAIA Region V Scholar-Athlete listing on Friday.
Kerr rounds out his Yellowjacket career as one of the most decorated and accomplished athletes GU has seen on the baseball diamond. A solid right-fielder with a quick bat as well as a dangerous on-base threat, Kerr has also performed well in the classroom.
A pre-medicine major, Kerr adds the scholar-athlete recognition to his status on the HAAC All-Conference team as well as earning a Rawling Gold Glove for his performance in the field.
Victor Tso, a native of Edmonton, Alberta and a product of Strathcona Composite High School, competed at first-base and the designated hitter spots for head coach Brady McKillip during the 2007 season. Equipped with a solid glove and a smooth hitting stroke, Tso was named a Region V scholar-athlete for his hard-work off the field.
A pre-medicine major at Graceland, Tso continues to help lead the Jackets on and off the playing field.
Bryn DeGraw just completed her junior season for the GU softball team as she helped lead the Jackets to a berth in the Heart of America postseason tournament. A slick fielding shortstop from St. Albert, Alberta, DeGraw started 31 games for the Jackets and hit for a .286 average while playing solid defense at short for head coach Don Stopa.
An elementary education major at Graceland, DeGraw is a former standout at Paul Kane High School.
To earn the scholar-athlete recognition, a player must maintain a GPA of at least 3.5 (on a 4.0 scale).
