Carlos Hernandez is in his third year with Coach McDole and the Yellowjackets as the men’s volleyball varsity assistant coach. He shares his time with the office of Sports Information as an assistant as well. Hernandez and Mcdole work well together as they share their experiences of volleyball and other working experiences. Hernandez says, “I think we compliment each other for I am a thinker and perceiver and he is a feeler and judger. Put the two together and we are always expanding and working out issues”.

In 1999 and 2000 Hernandez was a varsity assistant coach for Truman High School in Independence, Missouri. In the fall of 2001, Carlos coached the William Chrisman High School volleyball team also in Independence. At WCHS Hernandez was the varsity assistant coach and worked with the freshmen girls’ team. Hernandez also coached a girls junior Olympic volleyball team in 2000 and 2001.

Hernandez has coached for the USAV National Development Camps and USAV Regional High Performance Camps and tryouts. Hernandez is a member of USA Volleyball and the American Volleyball Coaches Association.

Carlos is a native of Lamoni, and a graduate of Lamoni High School. Hernandez earned his bachelor’s degree in liberal studies, travel and tourism from Graceland in 1999.
