06-29-05 Ankeny Senior Signs with Graceland Baseball

Adam Shupe, a senior from Ankeny, Iowa, has signed a letter of intent to play baseball for Coach Brady McKillip at Graceland University.

A 6-foot-4-inch catcher and first baseman, Shupe is currently hitting .330 for the number two team in 4A Iowa baseball, the Ankeny High School Hawks.

“We are very excited to welcome Adam as a Yellowjacket,” exclaims McKillip. “He brings a lot of talent defensively as a catcher as well a solid bat with power. Adam should make an immediate impact for the Jackets this fall, and with his size, he will also work a little bit at first base giving us another option to get him into the line-up.”
Shupe is a baseball and football letterwinner for AHS, and has received CIMC all-academic team honors for both sports. He is a member of Student Council and works for The Talon, Ankeny’s school newspaper.

Adam is the son of Kyle and Dennice and the brother to Kaci. Adam plans to study journalism at Graceland University in Lamoni, Iowa.
05-26-05 Williams Signs with Graceland Baseball
Keith Williams, from Excelsior Springs, Mo., has signed a letter of intent to play baseball for Graceland University beginning in the fall of 2005.

Williams was a six-foot first team all-conference pitcher and honorable mention short stop for Excelsior Springs High School in Missouri. During the summer Williams plays for the Post 21 baseball club.

“Keith is an excellent addition to the Jackets pitching staff for the coming season,” according to Brady McKillip, coach of the Graceland baseball team. “He is a very strong right hander that possesses an 84-85 mph fast ball with the potential to throw harder. He will be a major factor as the Jackets rebuild the pitching staff for 2006.”

Keith was an honorable mention linebacker the Tiger football team and received student-athlete of the week honors in 2004. He was a member of the E-Club, Art Club and honor roll, and participated in Habitat for Humanity.

Keith is the son of John and Barb and the brother to Johnna. Keith plans to study physical education and business at Graceland University in Lamoni, Iowa.
