Matt Calcagni, from Brampton, Ontario, Canada, has signed a letter of intent to play baseball for Coach Brady McKillip’s Graceland Yellowjackets in Lamoni, Iowa. In 2003, Calcagni played for the Canadian Thunderbirds, of the Canadian Elite Baseball Club, hitting .433, with a .567 slugging average and .506 on base percentage. Calcagni, a five-foot-eleven-inch shortstop and second baseman, was selected as a team captain and starting short stop at High Point University in High Point, N.C. |

Knoxville High’s Derrick DeMoss signed a letter of intent to play baseball for Coach Brady McKillip at Graceland University in 2004-05. DeMoss is a five-foot-eleven-inch pitcher for the Panthers, who were state champions in 2002 and state qualifiers in 2003. “Derrick is going to help us on the mound,” says McKillip. “He is a good left handed pitcher from a state championship team. We look forward to seeing just how good he can be.” DeMoss was also an all-district tight end and linebacker for the KHS football team. DeMoss plans to major in business at Graceland University, located in Lamoni, Iowa. Derrick is the son of Rex and Chris DeMoss and Karen and Jack Lenger. He is the brother of Jeremy and Kristin. |

Chris Hayes from Oakville, Ontario, Canada, signed a letter of intent to play baseball for the 2004-05 Graceland University Yellowjackets. Hayes is a six-foot-two-inch pitcher and outfielder. He was the most valuable player for the St. Ignatius of Loyola High School Hawks. “Chris is a major signing for Graceland baseball,” says Yellowjacket Head Coach Brady McKillip. “He has unbelievable power at the plate and can get it done on the mound. He will make an instant impact both offensively and defensively. We are excited to have him.” |

Graceland Head Coach Brady McKillip added Interstate-35 High School senior David Athy to the 2004-05 Yellowjacket baseball team. Athy is a six-foot tall second team all-conference first baseman for the Roadrunners. He is also the Student Council vice president and plays football, basketball and track. “David is an outstanding defensive player at first base,” says McKillip. “He will no doubt help us there. His bat has come around in the last two years and if it continues , he will be an even bigger asset to the team.” David is the son of Brad and Debby Athy of St. Charles, Iowa. He has two siblings: Bonny and Chris. Athy was coached by former Graceland baseball coach Jeff Douglas. |
