Fayette, MO-The GU men's basketball squad fell to the Eagles of Central Methodist in Fayette, MO this evening by a score of 56-72.
The Jackets were unable to get a lead on the Eagles in the face of a bad offensive half for both sides, ending with a 23-28 deficit for Graceland.
Both offenses recovered for the second half, however, but the Jackets match the Central Methodist offensive attack in the second frame. The Eagles found their stroke from three point range, while the Graceland men enjoyed dreadful luck from behind the arc.
While Graceland was able to stay more or less in the contest for the entire game, Central Methodist slowly built upon their lead toward the eventual 56-72 final.
Jake Smith (Mt. Vernon, IN) lead Graceland in scoring with 14 points, while senior Mike Johnson (Kansas City, KS) added 7 points and 8 rebounds.
The Jackets will take part in the Cougars vs. Cancer tourney, staring on New Year's Day, January 1st at a time to be determined. Stay tuned to the Graceland athletic website for continuing coverage of the Graceland men's basketball squad and of all Graceland athletics.
