Oskaloosa, IA-The Lady Jackets finished their fine campaign with a thrilling 3-1 victory over William Penn University in Oskaloosa, IA. Graceland finishes 17-13 against a very challenging schedule and now proceeds to the conference playoffs on a tidal wave of momentum.
The Jackets started off well in what was to be an offensive masterpiece for the side, downing the Lady Statesmen 25-19 in the first game. The match briefly showed a flash of danger as William Penn leveled the slate at 1-1 with a 24-26 duel in the second game.
But Penn could not repeat its comeback as Graceland turned the tables in a 26-24 third game before slamming the door shut in the fourth, 25-17.
"We made this trip to challenge our readiness for the post season," said Coach Stew McDole. "We did that, and gained a win in the process. We attacked at a season high 325 as a team and managed an amazing 18.25 kills per game. [The victory] was a great way to end the season," concluded Coach McDole.
Graceland travels to Evangel University in Springfield, Missouri to compete in the Heart of America Conference playoffs this Saturday, November 7th.
