Missouri Valley Invitational

Marshall, MO-Playing in windy conditions but warm temperatures the men's golf team turned in one of their most impressive performances of the season at the Missouri Valley Invitational held at Indian Foothills Golf Course in Marshal, Missouri. The Course played just over 6400 yards and the golfers took close aim at a top finish. After the first day of play the team was a mere 6 strokes behind the home team from Missouri Valley. Graceland shot 304 the first day and was second only to Missouri Valley's 298. "The first day was a great score for us. I have known all along that these guys have the potential to play well and I have been trying to get them to believe it," stated Coach Brunner. "You could see the change in the perspective after the first day. They were saying that we can win this thing." Unfortunately, the golfers came up a little short on the second day shooting a 313 to Missouri Valley's 300. "This is a great way to finish the fall season. I am proud of the whole team and now look forward to offseason preparation," concluded Coach Brunner.

Sophomore Tim Redding (Grand River, IA) and Senior Adam Craig (Stouffville, ONT) both made the all-tournament team which consisted of the top five players for the tournament. Individually, Redding finished 3rd and Craig finished 5th overall. Redding fired an even par 72 on day one but struggled with the putter on day two shooting a 79 for a 149 total. Craig played consistently shooting 76-77 for a two-day total of 153. Sophomore Mikhail Ziskos (East York, ONT) shot 155 (76-79) and finished in 7th place, while Lamoni natives Junior Matt Mickelson and Sophomore Trent Ranney shot 160 (82-78) and 162 (80-82), respectively. The team received a second place plaque and Redding and Craig received all-tournament plaques.

The golf team will be studying hard and preparing for the spring season as they make a run for the conference title and an automatic bid to the national tournament.
