Olathe, KS-The Graceland women's volleyball team has been struggling through the month of October. Coming into Tuesday nights game, the Jackets had dropped six straight matches including two conference games (Benedictine and Culver Stockton) along the way. Tonight however, the Jackets were able to get the proverbial monkey off of their backs.
Behind strong platform play and quality play up front, Graceland defeated the MidAmerica Nazarene Pioneers in 5. The Jackets won, 25-22, 19-25, 25-21, 22-25 and 17-15. The win sends Graceland's overall record to 14-12 and 3-5 in Heart of America Athletic Conference play.
"This was an important win," stated Coach McDole from Olathe following the match. "It finally got us off of 13 wins and probably into post season. Now we need to move up in seeding. The whole team is relieved to get over this hurdle and move on," finished McDole.
The Jackets will make the long trip to Springfield, Missouri on Saturday for a 5pm matchup with the Evangel University Crusaders. Stay tuned to the Jacket athletics website for continuing coverage of the women's volleyball team and all of Jacket athletics.
