Lamoni, IA-Graceland men's soccer defeated Avila 4-0 in Lamoni. The Jackets spent much of the second half shorthanded, but managed to keep scoring. Graceland went into half with the score nil-nil, but came out in the second period looking for blood.
The Jackets found it fifteen minutes into the half when Aaron Cairnes (Glasgow, Scotland) found the net off of the assist from Diego Gonzalez (Brampton, ON).
After a red card to junior Kasy Kiarash (Toronto, ON), the GU side played nearly 20 minutes shorthanded, but from the 70th minute to the end of the game, the Jackets scored three times on the Eagles.
Gonzalez put two of his own in the 82nd and 89th minute, between which Brady Blankenship (Glenwood, IA) scored his own in the 88th minute.
"It was a good win tonight, especially considering the adversity toward the end having to play with ten men. We have a week to regroup, and get ready to face MidAmerica next week," said Coach Angel Monroy.
Graceland will indeed face MidAmerica Nazarene University at home in Lamoni, Saturday October 24 with a 7:00 pm start. Stay tuned to the Graceland Athletics website for continuing coverage of men's soccer, and all Graceland athletics.
