Marshall, MO-It's been a rough stretch of play lately for the Graceland men's soccer team. Over the last couple weeks the Jackets have been depleted by injury, endured sub-par play and have had some bad luck. It didn't get any better for Graceland Saturday afternoon in Marshall, Missouri, against conference foe Missouri Valley as they fell, 3-1.
Coming off of last Sunday's disheartening defeat at the hands of the Ashford Saints in Lamoni, Graceland was eager to get back at it to redeem themselves. Missouri Valley however, had revenge thoughts on their minds after Graceland defeated them last season, 2-1 in the waning minutes of their battle at CommunityAmerica Ballpark, in Kansas City.
The scoring started in the first half for Missouri Valley as they tallied two goals in the stanza. In the second half, the Vikings would score a third time before Graceland finally got on the board. Unfortunately, the Jackets wouldn't get any closer than that falling, 3-1.
Things don't get any easier for the Jackets in their next contest. They'll face conference rival William Jewell this Tuesday in Lamoni at 7pm. Graceland now stands at 4-4 overall and 1-1 in conference play. Stay tuned to the Jacket athletics website for continuing coverage of the men's soccer team and all of Jacket athletics.
