Graceland Invitational
Lamoni, IA-Senior Krista Woodend (Woodstock, ONT) started her last year of Graceland golf feeling good about how practice had gone the week before. She had scored in the 30's consistently during practice but slipped to a 88 (42-46) for the home opener. "Krista loves the game and has been the steady influence for the team for the past three years. She is a great golfer and I hope she realizes her potential this year," shared Coach Brunner. The other Graceland golfer Junior Loralyn Heath (St. Joseph, MO) played in her first collegiate match and scored a 121 (67-54). "Loralyn will make a nice contribution to the team over the year. After she got the first match jitters out of the way she played good. I am confident she will continue to improve," stated Coach Brunner. The other members of the team were not available today because of commitments to other activities.
The medalist for the tournament was determined by an exciting sudden death playoff. After shooting 76, Park University golfer Plern Promboobpa edged out Missouri Valley golfer Meghan Gauthier with chip-in for birdie on the third extra hold. Team honors went to Park University who shot 339 as a team. The weather was perfect for the opening tournament of the new season, 80 degrees and light wind.
The Yellowjackets play at the Northwest Missouri State invitational on October 1 and 2.
