Chicago-IL-The women's soccer team defeated Robert Morris College 2-0 Sunday afternoon in Chicago. The win was the second on the weekend for Graceland at the Chicago Tournament.
Graceland got goals from two of their all-americans on the afternoon as both Chelsea Phillips (Granada Hills, CA) and Karina Vega (Asuncion, Paraguay) found the back of the net in the Jacket victory. Freshman Ayaka Sawa (Tochigi, Japan) had the assist on Vega's goal.
"After two well earned wins on the road we return home from the Chicago Invite with our heads held high," stated Coach Wagenaar on the road trip home. "The ladies played really well today again and we had one of the best constructed goals in Graceland history this afternoon. Karina scored on a nice assist after a nice back heal pass from Chelsea Phillips. I like the direction this team is headed and we'll continue to get better as the season progresses. Next week will be a huge test for us in Kentucky against two nationally ranked opponents and then we'll finally get to come home," finished Coach Wagenaar.
