Baldwin City, KS-The men's and women's cross country teams began their fall season today at the Maple Leaf Invite in Baldwin City, KS.
Picking up where he left off last year, 2008 NAIA National Meet Qualifier Neil Grundman (Croswell, MI) won the Maple Leaf Invite today with a dominate time of 15:38. Ahmed Khalif (Hamilton, Ontario) finished a strong second with a time of 16:05. The entire men's team had a nice outing today finishing 5th overall and the women placed a respectable 6th place.
"I could not be more pleased with the performances today by both the women's and the men's team, stated Coach Allshouse following the run. "Both teams had a really hard workout on Thursday which completely drained everyone so my expectations for today were really low. Needless to say, I was extremely pleased to see how well everyone ran even though I know they were only operating at 80%. Neil Grundman and Ahmed Khalif ran beautifully for the men's team and Amanda Batey and Jami Ruckman looked fantastic on the women's team. Despite injury and fatigue, Chris Karley posted a huge 40-second personal best. As you can tell, I am very proud of the Yellowjacket performances today," finished Allshouse.
