Lamoni, IA-The Graceland baseball team is really starting to play good baseball and they've found the right time to do it. The Jackets had their game, originally scheduled to be in Kansas City, moved back to Lamoni today and it played right into Graceland's hands. After splitting with Avila Friday in Lamoni, the Jackets swept the Eagles Sunday winning 5-3 and 7-1.
Both games saw their fair share of excitement. In game one the Jackets led 3-1 early before the Eagles were able to tie it up at 3-3. In the top of the seventh (GU was the visiting team due to destination change) Sam Felman (Guayaquil, Ecuador) drove in the two go ahead runs giving Graceland the win, 5-3. In game two Graceland jumped all over Avila as Ryan Coppi (Omaha, NE) had a big homer early and the Jackets never looked back winning 7-1.
The Jackets next host Central Methodist in Lamoni for the second time this season, Tuesday at 1pm. Graceland is now 15-26 overall and 13-19 in HAAC play as they compete for the sixth and final spot in the HAAC tournament.
