Box Game 1 | Box Game 2
Lamoni, IA-The Graceland softball team has had their issues finishing off softball games of late. Coming off of Wednesday's losses to Haskell Indian Nations where the Jackets lost a 6-3 lead in the 7th inning of game one, Graceland got out to a lead against Central Methodist today in game one, only to see it slip away.
The Jackets led 4-2 entering the sixth inning of game one when Central Methodist ripped a two-run homer to tie the game. It remained 4-4 until the eighth when the Eagles hit another homer, this time of the three-run variety, giving them a 7-4 lead. In the bottom of the seventh Carlene Nelson (Sherwood Park, Alberta) led off the inning with a single and Bryn Degraw (St. Albert, Alberta) hit a two-run bomb of her own to make it 7-6. The Jackets wouldn't get any closer and fell 7-6 in eight innings of game 1.
Game two was all Central Methodist as they started off in the first inning putting runs on the board and continued to pour it on the rest of the game winning 9-0.
The Jackets play tomorrow in Canton, Missouri at 1:30 pm in a double header against Culver Stockton College. Stay tuned to the Jacket athletics website for continuing coverage of the softball team and all of Jacket athletics.
