Lamoni, IA-Thursday night the Jackets had the tall order of taking on HAAC front-runner Avila University. The Eagles came into Lamoni boasting the best overall record in the HAAC at 16-4 and were tied for third in conference play at 9-3. In the first half the Jackets stuck with Avila early before the Eagles jumped out to a 37-26 halftime lead. In the second half Avila was able to thwart any Graceland run and defeated the Jackets 71-55.
Graceland had only one scorer in double figures. Sophomore forward Kendyl Rizea (Windsor, Ontario) scored 10 on the evening and grabbed 5 boards. Alex Pinney (Schulenburg, TX) and Channel Rainey (Los Angeles, CA) both added 9.
The Jackets will head to Lindenwood University this Saturday afternoon for a 2pm matchup in St. Charles, MO with the Lindenwood Lions. Stay tuned to the Jacket athletics website for continuing coverage on the women's basketball team and all of Jacket athletisc.
