Liberty, MO-It's been a long time since a Jacket women's basketball team has gotten a victory on the road at William Jewell. Graceland almost found a way to get it done tonight. The Jackets battled the Cardinals for 40 minutes of regulation and 5 more in overtime tonight only to fall 75-73 in overtime.
It took a William Jewell shot at the end of regulation to tie the basketball game and send it into overtime. The Cardinals had the ball underneath their own basket with 4.1 seconds remaining in the game and down two points. They were able to convert and eventually took the game in overtime.
"I'm so proud of the ladies effort tonight," stated Coach Butler following the loss. "Tonight was a step forward in the right direction. To be able to compete on the road like that with one of the best teams in the conference is a great sign of the strides we're making," concluded Butler.
The Jackets now stand at 2-4 overall and 0-1 in conference play. They'll host Evangel University this Saturday in Lamoni at 2:00 pm. Stay tuned to the Jacket athletics website for continuing coverage on the women's basketball team and all of Jacket athletics.
