Canton, MO-Thursday night the Jackets were on the road facing a Culver Stockton Wildcat team who had shared Graceland's struggles early in conference play. Unfortunately, the Jackets (4-14, 1-7) battled through one of their poorest performances on the season struggling mightly to stop the Wildcat offense who scored 90 points on the night defeating the Jackets 90-74. Culver Stockton (3-13, 3-4) shot 56% from the field including 36% from behind the arc while holding the Jackets to a meer 41% from the field and only 25% from the 3-point line.
Graceland did have four scorers in double figures tonight led by senior center Simon Morefield (Indenpenence, MO) with 18 points and 7 rebounds. Jewel Carter (Kansas City, KS) added 16 while Freddy Franco (Roswell, NM) and Jonothan Carter (Colorado Springs, CO) both added 10.
"We did not play the type of defense tonight that we are capable of playing," stated Coach Hamilton. "We had made such nice improvements with our effort and our defense over the last few games, it was frustrating to take a step backwards tonight. Having a week off ahead of us, we will work on improving our defense and our focus as we prepare for Missoui Valley next week," finished Coach Hamilton.
