Lamoni, IA-The women's basketball team continues to compete every time they step on the floor in the always difficult HAAC. Saturday they hosted conference foe Lindenwood University in a game in which the Jackets never led and struggled through shooting woes most of the afternoon. Graceland lost 79-68 and were plagued by cold shooting throughout the game. The Jackets only shot 38% from the floor including 2 for 13 shooting from behind the three-point line. The Jackets now stand at 2-9 overall and 0-6 in Heart of America Conference play.
Despite the loss Graceland still got big games from Katie Lemburg (Modesto, CA), Quannika Horne (Lansing, MI), Alex Pinney (Schulenburg, TX) and Nya Pouk (Des Moines, IA). All four scored in double figures on the afternoon as Lemburg had 18, Horne had 14 points and 5 assists, Pinney had 13 and 9 rebounds and Pouk finished with 12.
"As we move on in the season we've got to learn to play hard for 40 minutes," stated Coach Butler following the game. "We played hard in the second half today but didn't bring the same intensity in the first. You just can't do that in this conference; teams are too good. We'll continue to work hard every day in practice and this team will continue to get better," finished Coach Butler.
