Baldwin City, KS-The Yellowjacket football team, which is in desperate need of a win, had a tall task facing them Saturday afternoon. Graceland was in Baldwin City, Kansas to face the 3-2 Baker Wildcats at their annual homecoming game. The Jackets would end up losing 41-3.
The game didn't start well for the Jackets as the first play from scrimmage was a pass attempted by Graceland's Garrett Grundman (Croswell, MI) that was intercepted and taken back for a Wildcat touchdown. That set the tone for the rest of the game that was all Baker. The Wildcats continued to poor it on taking a 21-0 lead in the first six minutes of the game. Graceland got their only tally of the game as Jacket leading scorer, place kicker Luis Villagomez (San Diego, CA), drilled a 21 yard field goal as time expired before the half cutting the lead to 27-3. That would be it for Graceland. Baker tacked on two more touchdowns in the second half of the game rounding out the scoring at 41-3.
The Jackets, now 0-5 both overall and in conference play, will face the 0-5 Culver Stockton Wildcats at the Graceland homecoming game next weekend. It should be an exciting battle as both teams look to crack into the win column and turn their seasons back in the right direction. Kickoff for the homecoming game is set for 2pm at Huntsman Field inside the Bruce Jenner Sports Complex on Saturday.
