Lamoni, IA-Another tough game was played tonight as the Graceland men's soccer team tied with Benedictine College 1-1. Just like the women earlier, the men also played two scoreless overtimes. This puts the Jackets at an overall record of 4-3-1 and 1-0-1 in the Heart of America Confernce.
A talented Benedictine team took the lead in the second half with a goal from Kyle Greig (Benedictine College). Just 4 minutes later Graceland retaliated with a goal from stand out junior Jeffery Darkwah (Toronto, Ontario) to tie the score 1-1. Darkwah was assisted by junior Brian Loving (St. Joseph, MO).
"Tonight we faced a tough team that was both physical and extremely talented," stated Coach Angel Monroy. "However we made some adjustments in the second half that allowed us to dominate on the field. In the second half we doubled them in shots on goal. We will move on from this game and we look forward to playing Avila on Friday," concluded Monroy.
The men continue conference play at Avila Friday, October 3. The game begins at 4:00pm. Stay tuned in to the Jacket athletics website for continuing updates on the Graceland men's soccer team and all Jacket athletics.
