Lamoni, IA-Tonight the Graceland Women's volleyball team beat the Grandview Vikings in three straight games. With two crucial starters still out of the Graceland line up tonight was a huge non-conference win for the Jackets. The scores for tonight were 25-19, 26-24, 25-16. Gracelands now stands at 12-5 overall and 2-1 in the Heart of America Conference.
Tonight was a great night for sophmore Sami Goodman (Hesperia, CA) who was hitting hard and consistent at outside hitter. Freshman Hannah Smart (Kearny, MO) was also back in the line up after being sidelined due to an injury. Smart was on point tonight leading the Jackets in serving and helping to carry them through a close second game.
"The ladies were focused and disciplined tonight and that's when our platforms really came together," stated Coach Stew McDole. "With two starters still out, the other girls really brought special tools to their game that gave us chances to win. Tonight could have gone in a different direction but with a strong focus on serving the ladies were able to pull out a good win," concluded Coach McDole.
The Jackets continue play this weekend in Clinton, IA at the Ashford University Invitational. Stay tuned in to the Graceland athletics website for continuing coverage on the women's volleyball team and all of Graceland athletics.
