Lamoni, IA-The Graceland football team has had a rough go of it to start the season. After facing Central Methodist in an emotional game to open the season, the Jackets have had to face two top ten ranked opponents in #3 Missouri Valley and today #7 MidAmerica Nazarene. The Pioneers defeated Graceland 52-9 holding the Jackets to 209 yards of total offense.
MidAmerica would score early and often in this one, opening the game with a 10 play 89 yard drive culminating in a touchdown pass from Dean Stinson to Brandon Smith. That opened the scoring at 7-0 with 10 minutes remaining in the first quarter. The rest of the half would be all Pioneers as they would take a 35-3 lead into the locker room. Jacket kicker Luis Villagomez (San Diego, CA) was able to tack on a 44 yard field goal for Graceland with 4:14 remaining in the half, giving the Jackets their only score until late in the game.
In the second half Graceland only allowed MidAmerica to score 17 points as the Jackets tallied their only touchdown of the game late in the fourth on a 6 play 71 yard drive capped off with a 35 yard touchdown strike from quarterback Zach Stuart (Neosho, MO) to wide receiver Kristopher Heard (St. Louis, MO).
