Men's Results | Women's Results
Baldwin City, KS-On a cloudy damp Saturday morning in eastern Kansas, the Jacket cross country teams got their 2008 seasons officially under way. Both the men's and the women's cross country teams were in Baldwin City, KS for the Maple Leaf Invite hosted by Baker University.
Starting the season with high expectations, Head Coach Kent Allshouse also knows there will be a steep learning curve for this team. Both teams are very young and will rely on a youth movement to swing the program back in the right direction. The men's team finished the race in 9th place and the women's team finished in 7th respectively. Both teams did have some impressive individual performances however. Sophomore Neil Grundman (Croswell, MI) finished second overall running the course in 15:50.08 and averaging just over 5:05 per mile. Along with Grundman's impressive performance, Jordan Edwards and Taylor Romig finished 57th and 58th respectively.
The women had sone solid running of their own. Junior Amanda Batey (Mentor, Ohio) had a great run finishing 10th in the field with a time of 16:02.94. Senior Allison Emslie finished 17th overall and Alice Ross finished 39th.
Both teams will get some much needed rest before they return to action next week. The teams will travel to CMSU Friday afternoon for the Mule Run in Warrensburg, MO. Full results are posted from the Maple Leaf Invite and check back next week for results on the Mule Run and all the happenings of the 2008 Cross Country teams.
