Kansas City, MO-The women's volleyball team was in Kansas City, MO opening conference play on Tuesday evening. The Jackets, who swept all four games in the HAAC preseason tournament Saturday, were looking to remain undefeated on the year and open up conference play with a victory.
Graceland would not only win Tuesday but would do it in dominating fashion beating the Eagles in three straight. The Jacket won 25-18, 25-19 and 25-13. Coming into the season Coach Stew McDole knew his Jackets would have a very competitive team as they returned four all-conference players from the 2007 team that finished 17-17.
"Our platforms really played well tonight," stated Coach McDole following Tuesday's game. "We had a good night offensively but we had an extremely good night serving headed up by Irene Villafranca and Hannah Smart. It's great to be 5-0 and we'll look to continue our great start," concluded McDole from Kansas City.
The Jackets open up play at home Thursday evening in the Closson Center. Graceland faces Haskell Indian Nations University at 7pm in Lamoni.
