April 30, 2008 | Box Game 1 | Box Game 2Lamoni, IA- The Graceland softball teams post season hopes where hanging by a thread on Wednesday afternoon. Graceland would need two wins and a little help from some of the other conference schools in order to get a HAAC Conference Tourney bid. Unfortunatley, it didn't go the Jackets way in Lamoni Wednesday afternoon as Graceland was swept by the Lindenwood Lions 4-2 in game one, and 2-0 in game two.

Game one got early scoring from both teams as Lindenwood lead the first inning off with four straight singles and capatilizing with two runs in the inning. The Jackets would counter with one in the third cutting the lead to 2-1. Lindenwood would get another in the fifth and their final insurance run in the seventh holding off the Jackets for the 4-2 victory. Freshman Caitlin Proudfoot (St. Charles, IA) had two hits and an RBI in game one.
Game two would see a dominating pitching effort from Lindenwood's Aubrey Moss who threw a three hit shutout. Lindenwood would score one in both the third and fourth innings. That would be enough behind Moss's tough pitching effort to hold off the Jackets. Graceland did get the go ahead run to the plate in the seventh but junior Chantelle Daigle (Sherwood Park, Alberta) lined out to second base to end the game.
The Jackets end the season with an overall record of 13-18 and a conference record of 6-14. Stay in tuned to the Jacket athletic website for periodic updates on softball signings and happenings.
