Lamoni, IA- The Graceland baseball team hosted Simpson College on Wednesday afternoon playing their second home date in as many days.  The Jackets won game one 9-2, but stumbled down the stretch in game two falling 9-7.

Game one was all Graceland as they got a strong performance on the mound from junior Matt Beckenhauer (McCook, NE).  Beckenhauer went the distance giving up two runs in the process, walking two and striking out three.  Senior centerfielder Angel Suarez (Vieques, PR) went 2-5 and drove in two runs on the day.  The big story of game one however was the continued strong play of junior transfer Sean Smith (St. Mary's, IA).  Smith went 4-4, all singles, and drove in two runs as well as swiping a base.

Game two didn't go quite as well for the Jackets however as the pitching struggled to hold down the Red Storm in the loss.  Samuel Felman (Guayaquil, Ecuador) went 2-4 with two RBI's in the loss.  Suarez had another strong game as well going 2-3 and scoring three runs.

Graceland will take a couple days off now before hosting Avila here in Lamoni this Saturday @ 1:00.
