Bethany, Oklahoma- The Graceland baseball team was forced to travel south again this weekend to warmer weather. The Jackets took on Southern Nazarene in Bethany, Oklahoma Saturday afternoon. Graceland, whose record at 3-8 is very deceiving, has played their competition tight all year long. It was no different on Saturday. The Jackets split with Southern Nazarene winning game one 9-6 and falling in game two 15-9.
Senior pitcher Chris Hayes (Oakville, Ontario) threw a complete game in game one aiding in the victory as the bats got hot putting nine runs on the board. In game two, Graceland was able to hit well again scoring nine more times, but struggled to get the pitching to shutdown Southern Nazarene.
The Jackets next scheduled game is Tuesday in Marshall, MO as Graceland kicks off conference play at 1:00 in a double header vs. Missouri Valley.
