The Lady Jackets came up short Thursday night when they lost to the William Jewell Cardinals 85-68 at the Closson Center. With the loss the Jackets drop to 14-12 overall and 7-10 in the HAAC. Junior Keturah Spotwood had a bright spot for Graceland, scoring 21 points and grabbing 7 rebounds. Cassie Butler also held her own, scoring 15 points and 5 rebounds.
Despite injuries the Jackets fought hard throughout the game against the conference leading Cardinals. Graceland played with good intensity and hustle but couldn't get over the hump in the second half. "I'm really proud of our kids," said coach Butler after the contest. "I thought we fought hard and played with good intensity," he concluded.
The next contest for Graceland comes on Saturday, February 16 at Benedictine University. Tip time is set for 2:00 pm and should be a good chance for the Jackets to get back on track.
