The Lady Jackets came up with a big win Monday night, defeating the Stephens College Stars 84-54 at the Closson Center. With the win the Jackets improve to 14-8 overall and remain idle in the conference. Senior Kristin Osborn had a monster game, putting in 24 points and grabbing 8 rebounds. Katie Lemburg had a big game as well, coming through with 13 points and 5 rebounds.
Graceland took an early lead in the first half and never looked back, leading by 26 at the half. A second half surge by the Stars didn't deter the Jackets, as they held strong for the big victory. "Our team fought hard tonight," said Coach Butler after the game. "It was good to see that we kept our intensity and focus while maintaining a big lead. This was a good non-conference win for us. We have to be prepared to make a push late in the conference and tonight was a reminder that we're headed in the right direction," he concluded.
The Jackets next contest is set for Thursday, February 7 against Baker University at home in the Closson Center. Tip time is set for 5:30 pm and should prove to be a thrilling conference matchup.
