The Jackets had the winning prescription Saturday when they defeated the St. Louis College of Pharmacy 91-49 at the Closson Center. The game was sponsored by the Coaches vs. Cancer with the proceeds from the game going to the American Cancer Society. With the win the Jackets improve to 7-16 overall as they remain idle in the conference standings. Simon Morefield had a big game with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Mike Malat contributed 14 points and 5 assists as well.
Graceland had no problem handling the Eutectics, carrying a solid lead throughout the game. "We played hard and with a lot of intensity for a non-conference game," said Coach Quinn after the game. "We used our whole team today and I'm proud that we had no letdowns. It was good to keep rolling and get everyone some minutes. Now we will use the next week to rest and heal some of our sick and injured guys. We have a big stretch coming up to prepare for as we fight for a playoff spot," he concluded.
The Jackets next contest is Thursday, February 7, 2008 against Baker University in the Closson Center. Tip time is set for 7:30 pm and should promise to be an exciting matchup.
