The Jackets earned a hard fought victory Thursday, defeating the Culver Stockon Wildcats 67-65 at the Closson Center.  This was a big conference win for Graceland, who is trying to climb its way back up the standings in the HAAC. With the win the Jackets are now 3-8 in conference play and 6-14 overall.  Freshmen sensation Mike Malat continues to lead the Jackets in scoring, putting in 17 points and 6 assists.  The big man Simon Morefield came up big,  putting up a double double with 13 points and 11 rebounds.

An overall team effort contributed to the Jackets win.  They shot 50% from the field for the game and suppressed a late push by the Wildcats to grind out the vicotry.  "It was a good win tonight, we'll take them any way we can get them," said Coach Quinn following the game. "The biggest difference than some of the early season games was when our offensive game wasn't as effective late we were able to get defensive stops.  Now we're fighting to get back into playoff contention in the HAAC, and Saturday on the road will be a big game for us against Missouri Valley.  It was impressive to see the type of confidence that the guys continue to show," he concluded.

Graceland travels to Marshall, MO to take on the Missouri Valley Vikings on Saturday, January 28.  This is a big conference game for the Jackets as they look to continue their winning ways.
