The Women's Basketball team came up with another conference win on Thursday, defeating the Culver Stockton Wildcats by a final score of 76-66. With this win the Jackets move up in the conference, bringing their record to 6-5 and 12-7 overall. Senior Kristin Osborn led the way for the Jackets, pouring in 20 points and 7 rebounds. Keturah Spotwood provided offensive consistency, scoring 12 points of her own.
It was a hard fought match for Graceland, but they never broke down and carried a lead for most of the contest. "We struggled a bit at times tonight, but we did what we had to do to finish the game off and get the win," quoted Coach Opie Butler. "It probably wasn't our finest performance of the season, but you have to find a way to win the ones you don't play particularly well and we did that. Missouri Valley comes to town on Saturday, a team that already beat us earlier this season. They're big up front and it will prove to be a tough challenge, but we'll be ready to play," concluded Coach Butler.
The next contest for the Jackets is on Saturday, January 26 at the Closson Center at 2:00 pm. It is Community Day sponsored by American State Bank. There will be free hot dogs, popcorn, and soda for all in attendance. Come out and support your Jackets!
