Lamoni, IA-
With the Graceland University women’s soccer team hoping to add to their already three consecutive HAAC regular season championships, adding top-shelf players like Lindi Spilchen will only increase their chances.

A graduate of Chippewa High School in Chatham, Ontario, Spilchen comes to Graceland with a long list of athletic accomplishments and a bright future ahead of her in the college ranks.

“Lindi is another player who will be one of the fastest in conference,” said second-year head coach Fred Wagenaar. “She has won MVP awards for her stellar play as a defensive back. Speed is not her only asset although it will allow her to get a long look as an attacking mid-fielder as she would be able to lend quick support up front resulting in a numbering up situation. She also enjoys a reputation as a corner kick specialist and we will try and continue to develop her free kick prowess her at Graceland.”

“She has the potential to become an All-Conference player in the very near future,” continued Wagenaar.

Spilchen played her club soccer for the U-17 Kickers under the leadership of Dwight Anthony where she earned a silver medal while participating in the USA Cup. While playing in the Robbies International Tournament in Toronto, Canada, Spilchen and her Kickers teammates went on to win silver medalist honors in both 2005 and 2006.

Capping her extraordinary club level career, Spilchen helped lead the Kickers to the Gold medal in the Gloucester International Tournament in Ottawa during the 2006 season. For her efforts, Spilchen was named the MVP during the gold-medal game.

Not only a solid soccer performer, Spilchen also used her speed and endurance to excel as a cross country distance runner while at CHS. Representing Northern Ontario in the OFSAA, Spilchen competed three times while winning the bronze medal in 2007. She also came home with the team MVP for her cross country efforts during her senior campaign. Highlighting her season may have been her winning of the Senior Girls North Bay District cross country race in the fall of 2006.

Spilchen also has competed for five years in gymnastics.

Everyone at Graceland would like to welcome Lindi to campus with the hopes that she will be able to make a smooth transition and become a vital part of the Yellowjacket’s championship soccer program.
