Canton, MO-The undefeated men’s soccer team was in Canton, Missouri Tuesday afternoon for a conference matchup which on paper appeared to be a game they should win. That wouldn’t be the case at all. The Wildcats absolutely stunned Graceland by winning 1-0 on their home turf giving the Jackets their first loss of the season.
Culver would score their only goal in the first half, and that would be how the game would end at 1-0.
“We had plenty of chances to win this game,” Coach Monroy said following the contest. “Culver deserved this win, they played hard and we played in frantic mode once we got down. Winning as much as we have lately, sometimes you can get a little complacent, that’s exactly what we’ve done. The good thing is, we still control our own destiny. If we can win out in conference play, we’ll still get the conference championship. We just have to pick up and move on,” Monroy concluded with.
This is a tough loss for Graceland to swallow, especially after winning possibly their biggest game of the season on Sunday against NCAA Division I opponent Western Illinois.
Things don’t get any easier for Graceland this Saturday as they host conference rival William Jewell at the “Razz” in Lamoni at 7:00. Saturday’s game will be the final regular season home game of the year.
