A dinged up Graceland cross country team was in Winfield, Kansas Saturday for the annual Mid-States Championship. Between all the injuries, the wind, and the mix up at the start of the women’s race, it wasn’t a bad day. The women had a rough go of it to start out Saturday, being forced to run almost a race and a half. After the first mile of their race was completed, the lead car took the runners on a wrong turn. About forty racers ended up running the course improperly. The decision was made to stop the race, let the men run, and then start the women all over. Needless to say this hampered an already injured team. In the end, the men ended up finishing in 13th place overall and the women ended up finishing 19th. The runners will now prepare for the very important HAAC Championships this coming Saturday (October 20th) in Olathe, KS. Full stats can be found on the Cross Country schedule page.
