Lamoni, IA-
Graceland opened their home season with a much needed win on Saturday against the Faith Baptist Bible College Eagles, 83-67. Tinkering with their lineup before Saturday’s game, the Jackets were much better on the boards and on the defensive end of the floor which really was the key for the victory. It wouldn’t come easily however facing a very scrappy Eagles basketball team. align=right

“We definitely improved tonight, but we need to get to the point where we play well for longer spurts at a time,” Coach Quinn said following the game Saturday. “Right now, we seem to play well in ten or fifteen minute spurts. That needs to get to twenty and thirty minute spurts. Better defense cultivates better overall play and that’s what we need to continue getting better at,” Quinn concluded with.

Graceland will now head to Canton, MO on Tuesday for a conference match-up with the Culver Stockton Wildcats. It won’t get any easier for the Jackets opening conference play on the road in the always difficult Heart of America Athletic Conference.
